Daddy and I were so excited yesterday to take Kellen for his very first trip to the beach. The occasion was to take his very first Christmas card debut picture. We dressed him in a wicked cute outfit that my client Karen picked out for him, packed up the car and off we went. Let me just say what a disaster! Of course Florida is experiencing a cold spell it was like 40 this am! So the beach was very windy and cold. I had brought some blankets for him to lay on and we decided to prop him up on some rocks and try to get his photo with the ocean in the back drop. Before I could even snap one pic the ocean came crashing onto shore and if it wasn't for Daddy's quick action Kellen would have been surfing! We then tried to lay the blankets in the sand, however the whipping winds were tossing the blanket and sand all about. It became very clear after that, that my beach picture was not going to happen this year. We packed Kellen up... who by the way did not make a peep the whole time and decided to take a walk around Worth Avenue. We happened upon a really beautiful park and after some careful posing got a beautiful picture of Kellen for our Christmas card. Success!
Now I can already here your thoughts as you read this. Kellen on the Christmas card. No dogs? It's true what they say once the baby comes the dogs are forgotten. So not the case! Yes it's true my pups have graced our Christmas cards since the year 2000. But they have not been replaced as cover models just given a year of rest for several reasons. First and most imp
ortant they are not camera ready. We are growing their fur out as long and thick as possible before we take them up to the freezing cold winter of Ohio. They truly look a hot shaggy mess right now. They both will be making a trip to the beauty salon before we leave to be groomed. Second and most important we cannot get Kiara anywhere near Kellen without dragging her. She has still yet to warm up to him and who can blame her! We feel that by next year once he is eating solid foods and can share with her that she will never leave his side. Last of all Chris and I decided that we could not be in the picture with Kellen either. A family picture includes all of us. So with no pups there could be no us. In a perfect world our card would include Sierra and Giuseppe as well. But I trust you can understand no explanation is needed there!

So for this year Kellen will grace the Christmas card alone. The pups understand that they were our first babies and nothing will ever change that.

I can not wait to see the card!! He is so adorable. Some pictures I think he looks like you, then others I think he resembles Chris. They change so much even in just months. So, fun to watch them grow.
